The Quel'dorei/Sin'dorei had the Sunwell, then it disappears, and they are suddenly deprived of magic. I'm unsure if there is an immunity - but keep in mind that every elf race that has an addiction has been hooked on it for 10,000 years. It will take hold of you, and you will resent its absence! TLDR Do not, my friends, become addicted to water. Even the night elves have had their need for magic weaned to a trickle- every night elf settlement needs a sacred moonwell full of arcane power but they don’t dwell in it the way highborne (shelves, helves, velves, belves) do. It should never have been an “addiction” so much as it was an environmental constant. In line with the water analogy, Elves are sort of like the sea mammals of Warcraft- they evolved to be submerged in water constantly, and a lack of it will dehydrate and kill them. The Nightborne were handled better in this sense than the belves, but the fact that a biological necessity that you evolved alongside is called an “addiction” feels weird. Which… if you’ve ever known an addict that’s really a bold statement. I think back in the day, high elves were implied to exist still because they simply had better self control and simply didn’t give in to their withdrawal symptoms. Honestly this is because of the writers’ implicit misconceptions about addiction.
